About Headwaters Pet Nutrition

Hi! We are Mike and Tanya Swanson, owners of Headwaters Pet Nutrition. Our family is passionate about pets, and we have the track record to prove it! Our story started 25 years ago, when Tanya became a conservation biologist and then a certified veterinary technician. Fast forward 15 years, when we quit our jobs to open a successful pet boarding & daycare center in central Minnesota. Each year, we feed thousands of dogs and cats. We see the connection between food and longevity, and we are determined to help pet owners navigate the confusion of healthy nutrition for their pets. 

Headwaters Pet Nutrition was born out of a realization that we can make small, meaningful changes in our pet's diet that can have big impacts on their health. We believe your pet deserves real food — not fillers, not artificial additives, just simple, wholesome ingredients sourced with care.

After our family works hard to clean and process the treats, we air-dry them to perfection and hand pack them with love. Most of our treats are ethically sourced from family farms.  No shortcuts. No mystery ingredients.
